On September 18th, the necessary paperwork was turned in to the Arizona Secretary of State's Elections Office for Howie Hawkins to be a Write-In candidate for President here in Arizona. He has been officially certified! Our original goal was to run Howie as an Independent for President (since there is currently no Green Party ballot line in Arizona). Unfortunately, we only had 7.5 weeks to collect 40,000 nomination petition signatures, in 115 degree heat, and in the midst of a global pandemic.

Now, our task is to Get Out the Vote (GOTV) for Howie and Angela. The goal is to be able to get 5% for Howie and Angela nationwide. Here in Arizona, that will probably equate to about 150,000 votes statewide. Andrea Merida, National Campaign manager for Howie Hawkins, has suggested the following:

1. Calling/emailing all registered Green Party voters statewide to remind them to vote for Howie as a Write-In.

2. Tabling at local events for GOTV efforts.

3. Phone banking or texting for Howie.

4. We need to find a way to break through the media silence in regards to Howie and Angela's campaign.

5. Schedule a local debate between Howie and the Libertarian presidential candidate.
